Jenna’s Senior Session

Senior portraits in Lancaster are in full swing. I met up with Jenna and her mom at Long’s Park for the beginning of her session. We walked around the pond for a bit before heading up to a swing set area in the back of the park. She was so easy going which made for some nice relaxed portraits. We then headed over to the Cork Factory area for some pics and quickly realized that it was a bit too packed to do anything near Cork & Cap or the Cork Factory. So, we parked across the parking lot and found some other beautiful brick work and a little patio to work with.

It was a great evening for photos and I was so happy to capture some photos of her. To check out some more from this session head over to my Facebook page.

Tutorial – Watermarking in Adobe Lightroom 3

This week I take the watermark we made last week in Adobe Photoshop and use it in Adobe Lightroom 3 with the new watermarking feature. It’s great to be able to post your watermark on vertical and horizontal images. Watermarking is great for people to start becoming familiar with your brand and also to keep people from stealing your photos online.

How would you like some tips about photography, Photoshop or great website I’ve found? How about some great posts about my photo sessions? What about hearing from some of my friends from time to time? If this sounds good to you, you’ll be happy to hear that Miville Photography have a new blog schedule that will start today. Tonight I’ll have the first post in the new schedule and the schedule will work like this.

Mondays will be “Session Day” and will include a recent session that I thought was fun and had some great images. It will allow me to showcase some of my work and give a few details about the session and how much fun it was.

Wednesday will be a tip of the week. I will use this day to give a tip, trick or let you know about a really interesting website, piece of photo gear or podcast that I’ve found. It will be a fun way for you to keep up to date with the ever changing photo world. I’ll also let you know of any new products I’ve seen or are now offering and how you can get your hands on them.

Friday will be a “Guest Blogger” day and I will introduce you to friends of mine who will be talking about a range of subjects. They may talk about their life, their passions or anything that comes out that they want to discuss.

A Green Hornet

While I was up photographing my cousin Morgan and her fiance John, I also managed to squeeze in some senior portraits of my other cousin Colin. He was a trooper, getting some pics at his house, around the barn and by the fields. We then went down into Wellsboro to get a few shots by the famous light posts and then off to the cool looking stone wall. After a little break for church we had some lunch with family. Then it was off to a park and then the ball field. I had both cousins and my aunt with us to help set up the baseball shots which turned out even better than I hoped the would. It was a fun time and I was happy to photograph my cousin Colin for his senior portraits.

Jenna's Senior Portraits

I had the pleasure of photographing Jenna for her Senior portraits. She’ll be a senior at Lancaster Central High this coming year. I photographed her sister Nicole’s wedding a couple of years ago. Now it was Jenna’s turn in front of my camera. With the skies clouding up, we tried to work quickly so that we could get the whole session in. We started out in the Greenfield Corporate Center in Lancaster in a gazebo overlooking a water fountain. After a few shots there we went just down the road to a smaller pond and creek in the same park. I wanted to get some shots of Jenna by the creek but didn’t like the angle I was getting. So, being fairly athletic I jumped the creek. I just got across, but I made it. Then got some great shots from that side of the creek. After, I couldn’t really cross back at the same point so I went down stream a bit to a spot that seemed closer. I leaped across with no problem. That is until I took two steps and sunk into some mud that I couldn’t see through the weeds. Oh well, a muddy shoe is well worth great pictures for Jenna.

After the park we decided to head down to Lancaster City and take some photos in the Duke St. section. Walking the streets and making a few stops before ending up at the Duke St. garage. I love to shoot at the DSG, it has some great architecture and the orange lights make for very interesting pictures. After a few shots, we started on the way back to the cars. At this point we looked at each other and realized the sound outside the garage was rain, and not a soft little shower, but huge drops. It slowed up for a few quick shots in the street and then we had to wait it out for a few minutes under a store front overhang. It was so much fun and I was happy to be able to photograph Jenna.
