Rockin' the woods!
Muddy Run State Park was the backdrop for Kayla and Randy’s engagement session. They chose this place because this is where Randy proposed to Kayla. This was my first trip to Muddy Run, but I can say it won’t be my last. So many great little places to shoot in, on and around for these two.
The weather was perfect with a bit of clouds, but no rain. As we started out walking into the woods I noticed that these two truly seem to be into each other. Playing around and holding hands. It made for an easy day for me and for some wonderful pictures! After a few starter pics and a fisherman leaving we made our way down to where Randy proposed. What a beautiful location for a proposal I must say, it’s the first picture in this series. Just off the main path by about 20 yards and tucked down along the waters edge, I can only imagine how special it was. We then walked along the waters edge for some more pics and made our way back to the main path.
There seemed to be a lot of people around, so that was my only challenge of the day, to keep them out of my shots and focus on Kayla and Randy. But now and again, I was able to get them in a little more heavily traveled section for a quick minute or two with no people and fire off a few shots, like the couple of shots below on the rusted guard rail. I was then privy to the information that Kayla had never been skipping stones! This blew me away, so of course Had to get some shots of her at least giving it a try. You can’t go to a lake and not skip stones! It was fun and funny at the same time as she proceeded to skip the stones directly into the water with a big splash. Does that really count as skipping if it sinks immediately? Anyway, a few quick shots in the high grass and it was back into the woods. I found a tree not far off the path in the woods that was almost like a seat made for pictures. I mean it was perfect sitting height with some extra room in the back for Kayla to kneel behind Randy. I also found a down tree which made for some great ring shots.
We made our way back and stopped along the way at a red striped bridge and a wood structure that didn’t make much sense. Finally we made our way onto the kids playset in the park. Fun was definitely had as I had them go down the covered slide together, and not only together but upside down for Kayla and head first for Randy. I’m sure they thought I was nuts but it made for some really fun shots. It was a great time and I can’t wait for the wedding next year! Enjoy the pics.
